UEFA CODE OF ETHICS

 

Any referee has his obligations to a game. A game shouldn't be slowed down intentionally and be going on without unnecessary pauses. A referee has to:

[1] do what it takes to always stay in a good physical and mental condition. A referee should be able to keep up with the tempo of a game. Referee should also [2] be able to keep clear mind in order to make quick right decisions;

[3] have a courage to make difficult decisions without any hesitation;

[4] be honest and impartial to everyone involved in a match;

[5] be able to refuse to referee a match if he is not filling physically or mentally well.

There are certain obligations to teams. A referee has to:

[1] inform national or international federation if there is any reason why he cannot referee a certain match;

[2] refuse to such hostility, that surpass UEFA declared norms.

Obligations to players are the following. A referee has to:

[1] defend players;

[2] show respect during conversation with a player (even if a player has made a foul);

[3] be honest in his match report.

And finally - obligations to other referees. In this aspect a referee has to:

[1] avoid any public critics of his colleges;

[2] help teaching young referees or assistants.
